Dogwood Canyon Nature Park


Dogwood Canyon Activities is inviting park guests to participate in the annual Great Backyard Bird Count sponsored by the Audubon and The Cornell Lab of Ornithology. The Dogwood Canyon Nature Center will provide bird count data sheets and internet access to input bird count data in the nature center classroom.

Discovery Stations

Come check out our new Discovery Stations at the Dogwood Nature and Conservation Center! Our stations provide a casual yet engaging educational opportunity for families and children to learn about nature through hands-on crafts, activities, and table top displays. Station topics change monthly. (See Activity planner for dates) Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

In these walk up workshops guests can participate in hands-on guided nature investigations and experiments.  Labs are walkup attendance only.  All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.  Activity is included with admission.

Live Animal Encounters

Presented by Wonders of Wildlife, get up close and learn about birds of prey and animals like snakes, hedgehogs, owls, hawks and more!

Stone-age Survival Skills

See demonstrations of flint knapping, friction fire, cordage and other tools, weapons and clothing employed by our prehistoric ancestors. These live demonstrations are complimentary.

Foraging in the Ozarks

Join us for a mosey around the canyon to learn about wildflowers, edible and medicinal plants, and a bit about local archaeology. Bring binoculars if you have them, as there’s always a possibility to see beautiful songbirds and other Ozarks wildlife!

Kids Fly Tying Workshops

Come tie your own fishing fly using real materials and tools in this guided Kids Fly Tying Workshop!  In addition to tying your own fishing fly to take home will also learn about the aquatic insects fishing flies are designed to mimic and how to “Match the Hatch!”  This activity is included with park admission and is walk-up attendance only. First come, first serve.  Supplies are limited.
